At Cannes, the Ad Industry Confronts the Rise of Facebook

Facebook seems to have assumed the role of Frenemy No. 1 at Cannes. Two hours didn’t go by without some top executive saying how Facebook’s “walled garden” makes it a new intermediary between brands and their customers. That gives Facebook the potential to steal them all away if it ever chose to do so. Facebook has a simple message: We Come in Peace, and we need the ad world.
