Spotify Ready to Introduce Video Project

Beginning this week on its Android app and next week on its iOS app, Spotify will be introducing video content to users in the U.S., U.K., Germany and Sweden. The company has been gradually testing video content on its apps over the past several months, consisting mostly of short clips, and has gleaned some early insights on the success of presenting contextually relevant videos based on the kind of music people are listening to with promising results. Spotify hopes that incorporating video into their app will expand their audience and encourage existing users to spend more time on the app, with a potential video ad product as a revenue source in the future.
