E-Commerce: Convenience Built on a Mountain of Cardboard

The instant gratification of ordering something online and having it delivered the same day, or even better – within the hour, is becoming not just a modern luxury, but a consumer expectation that is encouraging brands to either join the rush or be left behind. While the convenience of instant shipping offerings may decrease the amount of time a person spends shopping or the amount of pollution shopping at brick-and-mortar stores creates, the long-term ramifications of a system built on the demand of each individual may have a significant environmental impact.
