Pinterest Reinvents Itself to Prove It’s Really Worth Billions

In one week Pinterest will announce its biggest engineering and design overhaul ever, an attempt to maintain Pinterest’s position as the dominant global visual search engine. 87 million people use the service every month in the United States, according to ComScore, up 61 percent from a year earlier and US marketers spend a reported $100 million advertising in 2015. One core concern of the redesign is the definition of ‘taste,’ which requires a nuanced understanding of themes and concepts that is different in nearly every country.
